The Ganges River

The Ganges River flows east from the Himalaya. It’s considered the most important river in South Asia. It goes through the Gangetic Plain. It gets its water from snowcapped peaks when there is a drought. In 2007, the river was ranked in the top 5 of most populated rivers. The river is named after the Hindu goddess Ganga. This river is considered to be sacred. If Hindus bathe here then they believe that their spiritual soul is cleaned.
